Early Morning Bike Ride by Sally Harris – Black & White Print Open Subject Class Salon
The Colombian town of Villa de Leyva is painted in historic colonial white – a marked change from the mural filled colorful streets of Bogotá and Medellin. When we arrived in the afternoon, the main square was bustling with activity. But the next morning at dawn it was very still and peaceful. Compose and wait. Using the church wall and doorway for my background I waited for something to happen, and the biker came by. ~Sally
Lunge by David Henkel – Digital Image Open Subject Class Salon
Taken in February 2019, this young fella, an immature Red Shouldered Hawk was hunting for food along the fenceline at Sliver Sands State Park in Milford, CT. He would sit on a spot and stare at the grasses in front of him looking for any movement. After a few minutes, he would hop down the fence and stare at the next parcel of grass. Down the fence he went continuing his hunt. When he got to the end of the grasses, he would fly back to the beginning and do it all over again. I watched him do this for 30 minutes or so, until he finally caught his meal, a mole. This is his mid-hop down the fence line. ~David
