Two Images Earn A Perfect Score in Our April Competition!

Two images in our April Photo Competition earned perfect scores of 27 from our three judges for the evening’s event.  The two images are highlighted below, along with a short description of the photograph by the maker:

Down Time by Steven Labkoff – Black & White Print Open Subject Class Salon

This is Hverfjall, a dormant volcano near lake Mytvan in Mytvan, Iceland.  This shot was taken as a panorama of 3 images stitched together from my DJI Mavic Pro (a drone).  The volcano has been in active for many years, but only 5 miles from here are active, smoking volcanic fields, and even some hot baths.  The top of the crater has a walk way around the rim. If you look carefully on the mid point of the image, you can see people walking up the slope to the caldera for perspective on size.  Shot on March 11, 2019. ~Steve

Heaven’s Above by Rosemarie Consunji – Color Print Open Subject Class Salon

While walking through the new section of Warsaw, Poland, I noticed a modern building with a vertical slabs jutting from its structure. I was intrigued by its design so I got closer to inspect it. When I looked up, I saw clouds reflected in the glass. I then made a deliberate effort to align the protruding pieces when I composed the shot to achieve some symmetry. ~Rosemarie
