The Greenwich Daffodil Society Sponsoring a Daffodil Photography Contest
The 55th Annual Connecticut Daffodil Show and New England Regional Show will be held at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Avenue on April 24-25, 2013.
Part of the festivities is a Daffodil Photography Contest, which is open to the public.
Photographs may be portraits of daffodils, daffodils in a garden, in a flower arrangement, or in a natural setting.
There are three classes to enter into:
Class 1: Ringmaster – Color
Class 2: Lion Tamer – Black and White
Class 3: Aerialist – Creative Image: The intent of a creative image is to transform or manipulate the original subject for artistic effect. To the extent that the viewer will easily recognize the image does not attempt to depict reality. See Rule 5 for more details
RULES FOR PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
1. One photograph per exhibitor per class
2. Each photograph must be matted (no frame or glass)
3. Photograph must be at least 5 x 7 inches and no larger than 8 x 10 inches., prior to matting
4. The name and phone number of the exhibitor must be clearly written on the back of the entry but not visible to the judges.
5. CREATIVE IMAGE CLASS: Entries must display unusual characteristics suggested by, but not limited to, abstraction alternative media and techniques, camera movement. Chemical or physical manipulation, digital manipulation and creation, experimental technique, impressionism, multiple exposure and collages. Simply using unusual angles, extreme close-ups, direct capture of abstract subjects, or depicting unusual situations as the basis for the creative element does not qualify an image for this category. All images and image components must have been taken, created or generated by the exhibitor. Inclusion of images created from outside sources or created by other parties is prohibited.
6. Entries may be received Tuesday, April 23, 2013 between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
7. An entry card provided by the committee at the show must be completed by the exhibitor and placed with the entry.
