SPC Presents Insider Insights This Wednesday 7:30 p.m.
Our 3rd Wednesday events are geared towards non-competition sessions. This may include speakers, educational workshops and presentations, or social events. SPC is pleased to bring you for our 3rd Wednesday’s educational event for the month of October:

Wednesday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m.
This presentation will be a discussion from four of our members, who will be showing one of their images and showcasing how those images went from the camera to the final product. Some of the presentations include preparation, tools, and resources. Other presentations show tips and Photoshop techniques to render the final image. It’s an information packed session! Our presenters for this evening are:
Shamik Ganguly – The Making of “The Swimmer”
Shamik will be talking about the making of “The Swimmer.” The discussion will be about Vision and Visualization – From Inception to Print. Shamik’s talk will touch upon the following:
- Vision — Pre-Visualization
- The importance of technique
- On field decision making
- Post processing and execution of a vision.
Darina Todorova – Portrait Retouching
Darina’s talk will be about portrait retouching. She will focus mostly on Photoshop and her goal will be to show various techniques rather than perfectly completing the image in 30 min as the before and after will be. Shown is the image that Darina will base her discussion on.
Sandy Gennrich – Panoramas
Sandy’s talk will center on panorama photography. She will discuss the planning for shooting a pano and then use two images to discuss merging them. With the Pemaquid picture, Sandy will talk about lens choice and why a tripod is important.
With the Eastern State Penitentiary image, she will talk about the challenges of shooting an HDR Pano (which ended up NOT being an HDR image.) Sandy used layer groups in the ESP image, which she will detail in her discussion.
David Henkel – Star Trail Photography
David’s talk will center around how to photograph star trails and show how this image was rendered in Photoshop.
David presentation will cover:
- Tools for capture
- Preparation
- Execution
- Editing
- Finalizing your image
