David Henkel Earns a Perfect Score for “A Big Lunch” in our February Photo Competition

Congratulations to David Henkel for achieving a perfect score of 27 from our three judges at our February’s competition.  David’s image was submitted as a make-up into the Digital Image Class Salon Open Subject category.

Here’s what David had to say about the image:

“Captured in April 2018, it was a rainy day so I was looking for a location that I could photograph birds from my vehicle.  I had read a report that a little blue heron was spotted at a local pond in Westport so decided to head over there to see what I could capture.  There is a main pond on one side of the road and on the other side there’s a small pond at a private residence.  This day the Heron was fishing the small pond.  I sat and watched him capture several tadpoles as appetizers, and then it pulled this bullfrog out of the pond!  The rainy cloudy day really brought out the blues in the heron and the greens in the grasses, and I was glad I caught a focused image of this successful hunt!”
