SPC is pleased to welcome our new judge:

PETER VERDEROSA

At just twelve years old Peter was fascinated with his Uncle’s love of photography. After high school he was inspired to work in this field. He went to work for the leading local photo-finishing firm where he was responsible for all custom black and white contact prints and enlargements. After about two years Peter seized the opportunity to become the Greenwich Time chief photographer.

A year later he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After returning he went to work for C.B.S. Laboratories where he worked on Dr. Peter Goldmark’s brainchild, Electronic Video Recording (VCR) for over four years. During the next twelve years Peter again worked in photo-finishing and in slide and film-strip duplication. He was chief color timer at Color Film Corporation.

After that he became a retail merchant in an unrelated business, but did all of his own advertising and newspaper layouts using his extensive knowledge of photography and graphic arts. Having a love for everything technical, Peter made a smooth transition from dodging, burning and toning in a wet darkroom to becoming a near master of Photoshop. He has to his credit the photography, graphics, layout and type-set for two professional CD albums.

Peter was a long time member of the old Stamford Camera Club during the 70’s and 80’s. He preferred to compete in Salon Class black and white and after three annual wins Peter retired the silver trophy which he is so proud of as it has engraved on it the names of some S.C.C. greats including Henry Barker and Charles Mackie.
