Our next competition of the season is this Wednesday, October 7, 2015

The assigned subject for October is Urban Angles.

Print submissions are accepted until 7:15 pm the evening of the competition. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:30pm.

Our judges for this evening will be:

Robert Sherwin

For nearly 20 years Rob has taught film production and script writing at New York Institute of Technology, and served as chairman of the Communication Arts department for nearly four years. He has recently returned to strictly teaching on the Old Westbury campus.

He started his career as an urban landscape photographer. His photographs have been shown in galleries, sold to collectors, and represented in the permanent collections of Brooklyn Museum and Museum of the City of New York.

Rob began to explore film as an MFA graduate student at NYU. His first film won the coveted national FOCUS award and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences drama award. His second film received a national network premiere on PBS and The Learning Channel. He went on to make a feature film with Academy-award nominated Tess Harper and Emmy award winner Jay Thomas. His films have been screened at festivals, television, and in theaters both in the US and internationally.

In 2012, Rob finished work on “Senior2Senior”, an interactive web-based mentoring project involving over 200+ video clips of older adults speaking candidly about their life experiences to younger adults. He is currently immersed in post-production on a documentary: “Beautiful Days, Bloody Nights: a short history of Greenwich CT”.

Roger is a returning  judge for our Club

Joseph Kantorski

Joe has been in love with images for as long as he can remember. He attended Pratt Institute and turned this passion into a prolific career as an independent graphic designer, design consultant and artist. Since 1971, he has been translating words into images on a wide range of projects as an art director for national business and consumer magazines (Great American Kitchens, Vegetarian Times, Cook’s Magazine) and graphic designer for a variety of printed media, including catalogs, logos, brochures and books. Over the years, Joe has commissioned numerous illustrations and directed photo shoots for feature stories and covers with an expertly honed eye for line, color, light and composition.

In recent years, he has broadened his deep appreciation for art and learning by taking advanced classes in graphite drawing. A member of the Greenwich Art Society, his drawings are regularly chosen for juried exhibitions. He is also an avid amateur photographer who approaches every subject with a keen awareness of design and a desire to convey his limitless curiosity about everything that surrounds us.
