Sharland Blanchard

Sharland Blanchard started as a commercial photographer in New York City over 15 years ago. She specializes in people/beauty and fashion, and uses professional hair and makeup and stylists in both studio and natural light to produce her shots. She also photographs dance, botanicals, land and seascapes. Her clients throughout the years include advertising and modeling agencies, magazines, retail businesses, corporations and individuals – from Coach Leather to Champion Sportswear, Women’s Wear Daily to the occasional celebrity portrait.

Sharland attributes her flexibility and range to first learning photography from Photojournalists Mark Cardwell and Stu Cahill at Boston University. She was dazzled and strongly influenced by the dramatic lighting learned on her first job as an assistant with Boston’s Clint Clemens. Later as Studio Manager for commercial photographer Nancy Brown’s New York City Studio, Sharland acted as a rep, cast and produced shoots for consumer ads, album covers and editorial jobs and learned the business, technical and production skills required to become a professional photographer.

After moving back home to Connecticut, Sharland left photography for a while to pursue a career in marketing. She has since started her own branding agency where she does a lot of photo editing and accepts product, portrait, beauty and fashion photography jobs for magazines, retailers, fashion, cosmetics and financial companies.

Sharland is a first time judge at our Club.
