Our next competition of the season is this Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Digital submissions for this competition are due by the end of the day Monday, November 4, 2013. You can submit your entries to DHFore@hotmail.com.

You can expect a confirmation of receipt of images from David by the end of the day Tuesday, November 5. If you do not see any confirmation email, please reach out to me immediately so we can fix the issue.

For digital image submission guidelines please reference our website’s Rules and Guidelines page, under sections V – DIGITAL IMAGES and VI – DIGITAL FILE SPECIFICATIONS.

The assigned subject for November is Smoke.

Print submissions are accepted until 7:15 pm the evening of the competition. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:30pm.

Our judges for this evening will be:

Lynda James Carroll

Lynda has been teaching Photography, black and white chemical darkroom as well as digital at Greenwich High School for the past 11 years, where many of our students earn State and National prizes.
She is also a practicing artist with a studio at the Loft Artist Association building in Stamford for the past 15 years. In addition to being a member of the group she also spent a chapter as the President of the organization.
Previous employment includes teaching at Parsons School of Design and being the Associate Curator of Education at the Aldrich Museum where she remains on the Teachers Advisory Board.

Donna Callighan

Donna has been a successful professional corporate/advertising photographer for over twenty years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography in 1983 from the University of Georgia, and then she served a four-year apprenticeship before starting her own company, Donna Callighan’s PHOTO designs. Product clients have included Prestone, Nivea, and Zoto’s brands.  Portrait clients have included numerous CEO’s and board of directors for Fortune 500 corporate annual reports.
While on assignment in Paris in 2002, she was inspired to explore a new technique of shooting through a sheet of glass. This has led to her becoming an internationally exhibited environmental fine art photographer as well.  Donna’s fine art photography seeks to express through the universal language of sight, our global environmental issues, and to honor nature in all of its perfection.  She has even adopted the brand name, donna-terra, to signify her commitment to the natural world.

Donna also loves to teach photography and Photoshop one-on-one to willing students of all ages who also share this passion for photography.

Steve Ellis

Steve Ellis is a freelance photographer and internet marketing professional based in Stratford, Connecticut. His photography includes landscapes, travel and golf, as well as macro and detail studies, and spans 30 plus years and over 25 countries. He converted from film (primarily Kodachrome) to digital more than ten years ago.

Steve’s work is often characterized by its striking detail, patterns and texture – and has been awarded, published and exhibited, as well as selected for a variety of residential and commercial design applications. He loves to share his knowledge and experience in photography and digital image processing with those who have a similar passion for capturing fascinating aspects of the world around them.
