Club member Bill Gordon’s image Last Refuge earned a perfect score of 27 from our three judges for December’s competition.  Bill’s image was submitted into the Color Print Class A Open Subject category.

Bill says about the image:

“Dynamite Payson, who lived in South Thomaston, Maine just up the road from our family cottage, became the leading expert on Dory design, construction and use.  His finely detailed models became prized and often valued at over $1,000.  These seaworthy row boats were used aboard Gloucester fishing schooners to fish for cod on George’s Banks by men with hand lines and also  to hold salted herring in the harbor for Maine lobstermen to use as bait.  These particular dories were “rescued” by Dynamite ten to fifteen years ago either to study or for repair.  His field became their final resting place.  The photo was taken at 10:00 in the morning as the fog began to lift with a Nikon D 300 and Nikon 17 – 55, f 2.8 lens at 38 mm.”

Congratulations Bill!  Your image was added to the Perfect Score Gallery
