More than an extremely successful outdoor and travel photographer, David is a gifted and enthusiastic teacher who truly enjoys sharing his experiences and expertise with people. He finds great joy helping others discover their creative potential and shares stories of his shoots blending humor with the message. For this presentation, David will discuss what it takes to develop and execute a successful photography book and will share images from his books discussing why they were important to the book project.

David Middleton has been a professional photographer for almost 30 years and has traveled extensively throughout all of the US, Canada and much of Central and South America, South Africa and Australia. His photography and writing have been featured in many magazines, books, and calendars. He has also led more than 150 photography tours and taught over 200 photography workshops in such places as Antarctica, Alaska, Arctic Canada, U.S. National Parks & Ecuador. David is a Contributing Editor of Outdoor Photographer Magazine, the former executive director of the Photographer’s Alliance Workshop company and a Nikon Legend Behind the Lens.

David has produced 14 books. His first book, Ancient Forests, was published in 1992 and was followed by The Nature of America, The Nature of Vermont, A Photographer’s Guide to Vermont, A Photographer’s Guide to the Maine Coast, and A Photographer’s Guide to the Oregon Coast, Quite a Sightly Place, and The Lobstering Life. He is currently the series editor of The Countryman’s Press’ Memories books. Maine Coast Memories is his most recent book.
