It was a record setting evening at the Stamford Photography Club this past Wednesday, as our judges for this evening’s competition handed out 5 perfect scores to our Member’s submissions.  This week we’ll be highlighting those images that received a perfect score.

Club member Aleksander Rotner’s image After Dark earned a perfect score of 27 from our three judges for November’s competition.  Aleksander’s image was submitted into the Digital Projected Image Assigned Subject category, which for November was “After Dark.”

Aleksander says about the image:

“The  “After Dark” assignment led me to a baptist church at the end of the street where I live. I took several pictures with different exposures and picked the one, that looked as though the church was lit by the moon, where actually the light was provided by the reflector in front of the church. The background, behind the church consisted of small buildings, cars and street lights. The moon was partially obscured by dark clouds. I realized, that if the photograph was to make a dramatic impression I have to do some changes.  First I eliminated the background. The addition of a dark, mountainous landscape (from a picture I took in Italy),  helped in creating the dramatic effect.  I made the moon stronger, lightened up the clouds and added the light in the windows. Lastly I ajusted the the hue and the contrast. All this helped in changing a familiar street snapshot into a wondrous location shot.”
