SPC Field Trip – Plainville Hot Air Balloon Festival, Saturday, August 23rd
A field trip is being set up for the Club to head on over to the Plainville Fire Company’s Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. The festival is at Norton Park in Plainville, CT and is the closest hot air balloon festival to us.
When: Saturday, August 23rd — The Balloon Launch is at 6:00 am
Where: Norton Park, Plainville, CT
Meetup and Time: We will meet at the Commuter Parking Lot off of the Merritt Parkway at Exit 46 in Fairfield. In order to be there on time and get situated, please be at the parking lot at 4:15 am at the latest. We can carpool from the lot for the folks who would prefer not to drive to Plainville.
From the Exit 46 Commuter Lot, the travel time is about an hour (approximately 58 miles).
After the launch is done we’ll be stopping at Denny’s restaurant for breakfast, which is near the park on the way home.
This is your chance to capture an image for our assigned subject this season in April – Balloons.
It is a small, intimate festival, and you can get right up to the balloons as they inflate and prepare for liftoff.
Activity is fast and furious while the balloons inflate and take off and there are plenty of photo opportunities.
