Most people tend to take photos during daylight hours. Still others rely on artificial light by way of flash in a studio.  But the night holds all kinds of opportunities to create amazing photographs – if you know what to do, where to do it, and have the right equipment.  “Capturing the Music of the Night” is an introductory lecture on night photography.   We will start with basic introductory tenants for shooting at night, review the equipment that’s needed to be successful, and discuss everything from nighttime city walks to shooting the Milky Way – and everything in between.  By the end of the seminar, you should be able to confidently go out after dark to capture “the music of the night”.

We will cover:

  • Equipment
  • Exposure Settings
  • Subjects
    • Earth (Cityscapes, city walks, and available light)
    • The Moon (shooting the moon, and by moonlight
    • The Stars & the Milky Way
    • The Sun (tips from this summer’s eclipse)
    • Other subjects
  • Light Painting
  • Tips for Night photography
    • Additional “nice to have” gear
